Nvidia is aware of it - there are log entries that show it's trying to send the right flag and is being over-ridden - so hopefully this is something that gets fixed.

This mainly affects Netflix 4k, which there isn't a lot of, so not a huge concern at the moment for me. You have to manually set the Shield back to 4k for those to work. This in turn means the Shield won't pass a 4k flag via the mode API, which means apps (and content) that are 4k won't do it. I use SPMC with lanczos optimised on my Shield, it does a pretty great job with HD content (certainly better than the Shield) but I have to set the Shield output to 1080p (which is a recent option that came in the 5.0 update).
